Assistive Technology

The Library is pleased to be able to offer assistive technology devices for those with print disabilities.  Whether you suffer from low vision or are simply no longer able to hold a book, the Library has many ways to help you bring the joy of reading back into your life.  Some of the assistive devices include:

  • Computer with: 
    • large print keyboard
    • adjustable monitor
    • height adjustable table
    • large trackball mouse
    • Zoomtext screen magnification software
  • SARA – scanning and reading appliance
  • Merlin – CCTV unit for electronic magnification
  • DAISY readers and books
  • Handheld magnifiers - ask at the Adult Information Desk for use of these items.
  • Large print books - new large print titles are added to the collection on a regular basis.  Click here for a listing of new large print titles, added to our collection in the past 30 days.
